This exhibition included over a hundred artworks, fifty-eight of which came from the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection. Divided into three thematic zones, “Lands of Dreams,” “Lands of Knowledge,” and “Lands of Power,” Lifelines integrated interactive media with works of art to present Indigenous Australian perspectives on the creation of the world and their deep, ongoing relationship with country. The exhibition examined both ancestral stories and modern political realities, ultimately expressing that Aboriginal people are in constant dialogue with time, place, and identity. Combining sculpture, painting, video montage, and installation art, Lifelines was a comprehensive look into the eternal and contemporary concerns of Australia’s first human occupants.
