William Barton

Overview

Internationally acclaimed composer and musician William Barton visited Kluge-Ruhe for several special performances including a concert with Charlottesville High School students. William Barton is an Aboriginal man from Mount Isa in northwestern Queensland, Australia. For over twenty years he has practiced as a performer of the extended technique of the didjeridu. At UVA’s Culbreth Theatre, he performed three compositions, including several with Charlottesville High School Orchestra String Ensemble, led by Laura Mulligan Thomas. He also performed in collaboration with the UVA McIntire String Quartet as a speaker at TEDxUVA and for the Aussie Bush Banquet, a benefit dinner for Kluge-Ruhe.
