Meet An Artist: Carol McGregor
In this new virtual series, we’re connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to find out what they’re up to during COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. What’s it been like for them? What new art are they working on? What new ideas are they exploring? And, in the case of past resident artists like Carol McGregor, how has their time at Kluge-Ruhe informed their arts practice? Carol McGregor has been influential in researching and reviving the tradition of possum skin cloaks in Queensland and innovating in the medium. She is a fiber artist who explores themes of decolonization, historical representation, racial discrimination and cultural identity.
