Tots And Dots: Prints!

Join us with your tot, toddler, or little one at 10 am for a morning at Kluge-Ruhe! Created for children ages 6 months to 4 years, this visual literacy program engages early learners (and their caregivers) in looking at and talking about art followed by a fun hands-on activity.

For the first half of the program, we review “museum manners” and take a short tour of the exhibition, demonstrating how we talk about basic elements of visual art and stimulate visual and interpretive development in young children. According to early childhood studies, infants and toddlers are attracted to high contrast visuals, bold images, and colorful objects, making Aboriginal art the perfect starting point for your child’s art education.

The second half of the program features a multi-sensory art project for children aged two to four years, led by Kluge-Ruhe education staff, while those under two years old and their adults participate in social play in the galleries with games and toys.

This program is free. Registration is required and crying babies are still welcome! If you need more information or have any questions, email us.

On November 14, after viewing prints in the Shifting Ground exhibition, we will create our own prints using Styrofoam and water-soluble ink! With the bright colors we will be using, little ones will experiment with figural etchings—of animals and people—after having read Malu Kangaroo. Click here to register for Tots & Dots on November 14!
